This weekend is the gay pride parade in San Francisco and I thought I would do some more rainbow nails.

The Darkside of the Moon

This weekend was the largest full moon of 2013 and what some experts have deemed "the Supermoon." Our friendly lunar satellite will reach the closest point on earth and will look slightly lighter and brighter. *Edit the Supermoon was this morning at 4AM PST, I missed it.  Oh well.

Here's some nail art dedicated to tonight's Supermoon!

Zoya Reswatch: Kieko + nail art

Last weekend, Zoya was offering a BOGO deal on most of their past summer collection releases as well as a few of their most popular colors. Looking at the list, I had most of the shades so I decided to re-swatch Kieko. Kieko is from their 2011 Summertime release. I voted it one of top my 10 colors for 2011 back in the early days of my blog.

Zoya Kieko a beautiful plum purple.

I added some nail art.

Actually, this is inspired from a manicure posted by Claire from Nuthin' but a Nail Thing, but she used a pink base with gold foil tips.  I used striping tape as a resist and sponged the purple onto the tips.  The purple metallic polish is Wet n Wild's Hog Quartz School.

I added star and regular rhinestones.  I would have done the rest with rhinestones but I didn't feel like trying to get them off my nails!  Star nail art is the best!

Bargain Bin Find: OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls

One of my favorite things to do is go on polish hunts and the nice things about polish hunts are bargain bins. If you're patient enough, you can find recent past collections for half off or more but you'll have to sort through endless bottles of crackle polishes! Seriously, who keeps making this stuff?

I picked up OPI My Scales Walls from last year's Spiderman release and I added some blue rhinestones.

I'm always looking for a good white creme that applies well to use for french tips or a base for nail art. OPI's My Boyfriend Scales Walls is an off-white with a hint of grey so it isn't so blaring white. It applied a little streaky at the first coat and was completely even within two coats. I added two coats of top coat to get the rhinestones to stick on. They were super stuck on and took forever to get remove!

What's some of your favorite bargain bin finds?

Zoya Irresistible Collection: Swatches & Review

I purchased the Zoya Irresistible collection through the Earth Day exchange.  It's a set of shimmery metallic polishes when I first saw the swatches on Facebook, I had to have them all!  The other summer collection sets include the Stunning collection which is a set of creams as well as a summer Pixie Dust set.

Born Pretty Store: False Eyelashes Chinese Style Paper-Cut

I have for review today some paper lashes from Born Pretty Store.  I'd say paper lashes first became popular around spring of last year and were worn by the two main characters in the popular Hunger Games movie.

Paper lashes pattern number #6, item no. # 5633.

Here's my eye look wearing the lashes:

Concealer: Makeup Forever Camouflage Cream Palette
Eyeshadow: Kleancolor Baked Shadow in Lime
Mascara: Covergirl Lash Blast Volume
Brows: Rimmel Brow pencil in sable brown

What I liked?
  • These lashes are great for cosplay or any costume look.
  • They were light weight and did not make my eyes water or feel funny.
  • The paper lashes can be easily removed.

What I didn't like?
  • The lashes are packaged with adhesive.  This makes them harder to get out of the packaging and they tore easily.
  • The thin paper is hard to manipulate onto your eye. I had to use tweezers.
  • The lashes do not come with eyelash adhesive.

Paper lashes pattern number #6, item no. # 5633 are available now and retail for $4.10 per pair.

More Sinful Colors

Some people love Sinful Colors polishes while others hate them! I love Sinful Colors, they cheap, affordable and widely available. They have a variety of colors in their core display and are always releasing seasonal collections. In my pre-polish hoarder days, my only polishes were Sinful Colors or Wet n Wild. I never bought high end polishes.

Here's some random swatches mainly from the recent Sugar Rush & Haute Rebel displays:

Mermaid nails

I purchased some polishes from H&M and one of them was this seafoam green duochrome called Lady Luck.  I bought it because I thought it would be a close dupe to one of the China Glaze duochromes, it's not.

New Sinful Colors: Sinful Shine

Recently, I saw a different kind of Sinful Colors display at Walgreens that caught my eye.  These were new and with fancy silver caps so for $3 I had to try a few.  Boy, I was not disappointed!

I picked up In the Limelight & Alfresco.
